A New Approach to Marine Propulsion

AirDrive Marine is a startup developing a new marine propulsion system designed to convert the pressure of compressed air directly into rotational motion, without an intermediate stage using air jets or repeated chamber filling and exhaust cycles.

From Compressed Air to Rotational Motion

The concept aims to reduce fuel consumption and simplify installation and maintenance. It is being developed to replace a vessel’s main propulsion engine without structural modifications to the hull.

By using compressed air generated through systems powered by different energy sources, including conventional and green fuels, AirDrive Marine is working towards a future with lower carbon emissions from marine propulsion.

The Principle at a Glance

Compressed air enters dedicated chambers around the disc. The interaction between chamber pressure and the disc’s surface geometry forms the basis of the proposed mechanism.
